Strategic Planning: Your Roadmap to Achievement

Full Transcript

As we stand on the cusp of a New Year, it’s the perfect time to fine-tune our goals and set our sights on success. Today, I’ll guide you through some of those pitfalls in strategic planning, so that you can ensure your path is clear, and your goals are within reach.

One thing we’ve seen time and time again in our coaching sessions is the stumbling block in execution. It all begins with ownership. It’s not just about setting goals; it’s about owning them. If you’re not committed to your goals, who will be? Take charge. It’s your roadmap, your journey. Own it!

Now, let’s talk about the silent killers of execution: poor communication and misalignment. Picture this: your team is a well-oiled machine, but without clear communication, it’s like having a GPS with a glitch. Ensure everyone is on the same page. Communicate the ‘why’ behind your goals and align your team’s efforts with your vision.

Another execution flaw we see is inadequate resources. It’s not just about the budget; it’s about resource allocation. Evaluate your team’s skills and strengths. Ensure everyone is in the right role. This isn’t just about money; it’s about maximizing the resources you have.

As we wrap up, take the first step. Own your goals, communicate clearly, and allocate resources wisely. Success is not a mystery; it’s a result of intentional planning and execution.

And remember… Ideas spark change; actions ignite it.

Let's Get Started!

Alex VanHaasteren

Senior Web Developer

Alex is YMC’s Senior Web Developer and, as the title suggests, she is an absolute pro! While she initially started in graphic design – working long and hard to expertly bring concepts to life – she also felt drawn to technology and applying her natural ability to problem solve. Web Development proved the perfect blend of her creative passion and technical savvy.

When Alex is out with friends – including her YMC colleagues – she’s up for Greek cuisine or some good pulled pork BBQ washed down with Diet Coke. Or an Old Fashioned, if the occasion demands. Someday, she hopes to go to Africa on a safari. Hopefully she’ll see a giraffe in the wild, because – as she’s pointed out – its neck is too short to reach the ground!

When she isn’t jamming out to T-Swift, she’s happy to impart some marketing words of wisdom, “Aim to create something unforgettable.” For day-to-day inspiration, she would remind you of two fundamental truths: You decide your happiness, and Ice cream is its own food group—not just a dessert.
