You have a blind spot. Sounds simple, but oh how hard it is for us to recognize our own blind spots.
Imagine this:
You’re soaring 3,200 feet above your city, flying your small airplane on a beautiful day.
Suddenly, a tiny speck appears through your windshield and, like the North Star, it doesn’t move. It escapes your notice.
However, had that speck begun moving across your windshield, you would have recognized it as another airplane. The fact that it doesn’t move means that you and that speck will soon intersect unless one of you changes direction quickly.
But, if you knew it was there, it wouldn’t be called a blind spot.
Blind spots are why wise people have someone in their lives to notice the things we don’t notice. We all need someone who will point out the things that seem obvious to outsiders, but because we’re so close, we would never see it.
As I asked for perspective from several credit union clients in a recent meeting with our digital marketing agency, I was made aware of my very own blind spot. “Why did you hire YMC?” All of the answers that I thought would be provided were.
“You take so much off of our plate and have given me so much time back to lead the credit union.”
“Your fresh ideas have helped us grow, even in the middle of a pandemic.”
One CEO fessed up to her blind spot. “You ask us questions and make us think about things. Your outside perspective keeps us on our toes, has made us more agile and pushes us.”
Ah ha! Solomon, widely known for his wisdom, wrote, “Two are better than one…If one falls down, his partner can help him up. But pity the person who falls and has no one to help him up!”
Yes, our team is constantly coming up with amazing, creative ideas. Of course outsourcing marketing has given time back to credit union leaders. Yes, the numbers speak for themselves. But our team’s ability to take a fresh look at your credit union marketing and operations as a whole has helped propel many credit unions forward, “even in the middle of a pandemic.”
Perhaps you’re putting pen to paper for your 2021 goals. Maybe you’re looking at your 2020 numbers and thinking of the old adage, “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.” Let us help you up. Let us help you remove that speck on your windshield and give perspective on your blind spot.
And while we’re at it, our team can take the credit union marketing off of your plate, give you some time back and even help you grow in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. Email [email protected] and let’s connect.
