Marketing  Strategist

Position Summary: The Marketing Strategist is equal parts strategist and storyteller. You will be responsible for working with up to 10 forward-thinking credit unions across the country. It takes someone who is smart, resourceful, proactive and passionate to develop and maintain strong client relationships. This includes leading in the planning, management and execution of projects related to our clients’ marketing plans. Overall, we seek someone who can foster positive client communication and best-in-class marketing that generates greater loans and members for our credit union clients.  

Role Expectations:

  • Be an advocate of the client
  • Lead by example to clients and all staff, fostering a positive and creative environment to produce the best work
  • Communicate clearly with colleagues and clients the expectations and timeframe to complete projects
  • Create marketing campaigns in alignment with current marketing trends
  • Be a problem solver who loves to collaborate with creative writers, designers and others

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • 3+ years of marketing agency experience or equivalent required
  • Own the creative strategy from concept to completion
  • Very strong relationship or client management skills
  • Proven organizational and planning abilities
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound problem solving and analytical skills
  • Industry knowledge (financial institutions) a plus, but not required
  • Must be able and willing to travel when needed

Does YMC work with clients that aren’t credit unions?

Currently, no. We are a boutique marketing firm with a niche in mission-focused credit unions seeking to improve their communities. While there are plenty of community banks and institutions doing great work, our focus is on the over 4,500 credit unions that exist.

What’s the key to succeeding at YMC?

Keep an open mind and don’t be afraid to ask a question! It’s easy to make a mistake in any position, but those mistakes can be avoided when you take the time to ask the necessary questions. And when a mistake is made at YMC, we welcome the chance to learn from it.

Are there any YMC traditions?

As a team, we like to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and promotions. We also celebrate holidays and annual events like Mardi Gras, National Wine Day, Christmas, etc. And of course, our weekly “Think and Drink” meetings where the whole team comes together to apply our creativity towards solving a client problem!
