Digital and social media marketing is tough. Don’t let anyone tell you differently. Once you’ve built up the nerve (and allocated the budget) to get started, a sense of “now what?” tends to set in. Even for experienced pros, the challenges are many. By the very nature of the industry, digital marketing is always changing. The thing that makes it so powerful – the immediacy, the flexibility – mean success is an ever-moving target.
So what do pros use to stay ahead of the game? I can’t speak for the entire industry but there are a number of tools, blogs, newsletters and resources that can be very helpful.

Think with Google – When it comes to staying ahead of the game, why not get information directly from the source? Between case studies, success stories and tips, this is a fount of invaluable information.
Search Engine Land – Their site and emails are must-reads for many (if not most) in the digital space
PPC Hero – In the world of Search Engine Marketing, it can be a full-time job just to keep up with best practices, algorithm changes and targeting options. This provides a cheat sheet for when you simply don’t have 28 hours in a day to do research.
Fair warning, the majority of these can be overwhelming for the beginner or the faint of heart. While the information is powerful, it is also extremely granular and can make you feel like you’re drowning in information. Don’t be afraid. Jump in!
